Spillings of the unconscious...
"These are four of my paintings and a lithograph. The lithograph was one of about thirty I made in the 1980s. The paintings were made in the 1990s. For years, I kept my paintings in cupboards instead of food, kept company with ghosts and wraiths. Lucidity was my closest lover. If you want to see more, click on any of these images and you will be taken to the galleries at my main website, THE ART OF BEING Christina Conrad.
"The job of the artist is to lift the lid of the unconscious, to allow the unmaterialised creatures which exist there to express themselves bodily. To accomplish this the artist need only get out of the way. The most difficult act in the world: to let the painting express itself rather than the artist's ego which can only maurade and falsify, thus spoiling the painting's chances of being fully born."
